Hello, my name is Kimberley, and this is the story of my beautiful daughter, Millie Rose.
Millie was the most special little girl. She had the brightest smile, the kindest heart, and a personality that could light up any room. She loved wearing tiaras, singing her heart out, learning everything she could about absolutely anything, and enjoying a good brew like a little grown-up. She brought so much happiness, laughter, and love to everyone who knew her, and she will always be remembered for the joy she brought into our lives.
In December 2025, our world changed forever.
After many visits to the doctors with a number of concerns, I always knew in my heart that something wasn't right. On Sunday 21st December, I took Millie to A&E, where blood tests were carried out. Within a very short time, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer, and was transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Everything happened so incredibly fast. Millie deteriorated rapidly, and on Monday 22nd December, she peacefully went to sleep after having a brew, with me by her side.
No parent should ever have to say goodbye to their child. The loss of Millie has left a space in our lives that can never be filled, but we are incredibly proud to be her family and so grateful for every precious memory we shared together.
The amazing doctors, nurses, and staff at the Great North Children's Hospital cared for Millie and supported our family with compassion, dignity, and kindness during the most unimaginable time of our lives. We will be forever grateful for everything they did.
Although Millie is no longer physically with us, she will forever be in our hearts, our thoughts, and everything we do. Her beloved Buddy now joins us on every journey, every event, and every challenge, so that Millie continues to be part of everything we achieve.
That is why we created Team Millie.
Our mission is to keep Millie's legacy alive by raising awareness of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, supporting families affected by childhood cancer, and raising vital funds for the Great North Children's Hospital. Through our fundraising events, our products, our charity challenges, and every donation we receive, we hope to make a difference for children and families who find themselves facing the same unimaginable journey.
When you support Team Millie, you become part of Millie's legacy. You help fund vital equipment, research, family support, and improvements that make a real difference to children receiving treatment. Most importantly, you help ensure that Millie's kindness, courage, and beautiful spirit continue to bring hope to others.
Thank you for taking the time to read Millie's story. Thank you for helping us honour her memory, and thank you for ensuring that this incredible little girl is never forgotten. Together, we can make sure that Millie's legacy lives on, bringing hope, love, and support to families for many years to come.
