🚗🐰 Buddy’s Journey – To Benidorm and Back 

In September 2026, Team Millie Moo set off on an unforgettable adventure — Buddy’s Journey: To Benidorm and Back, travelling over 4,000 miles from County Durham to Spain and back again in memory of our beautiful Millie Rose.

Millie’s beloved bunny teddy, Buddy, travelled with us every mile of the journey. We travelled through France, across the Pyrenees and into Spain, visiting places including Dunkirk, Rouen, Bordeaux and Zaragoza, before reaching Benidorm.

Returning to Benidorm was incredibly special as it was a place where we had shared precious memories with Millie. We visited some of her favourite places, spent time at the beach and remembered the happy times we had shared there.

The journey was about more than the miles. It was about carrying Millie’s memory with us, creating new memories while remembering the ones we already had, and turning our heartbreak into something positive.

Buddy’s Journey was completed in memory of Millie Rose, while raising funds and awareness for The Millie Rose Foundation and our work supporting children and bereaved families.

From County Durham to Benidorm and back again, Buddy carried a little piece of Millie with her every mile.

Our fundraising is about more than simply raising money — it is about creating opportunities, providing support and making a genuine difference to families when they need it most.

Through the generosity of our supporters, we are working towards providing practical and emotional support for families, while also creating opportunities for children and families to spend time together, make memories and enjoy experiences that may otherwise be difficult to access.

Our fundraising will help us organise family days out and special trips, giving families the opportunity to step away from the challenges they may be facing and enjoy precious time together. We also aim to provide community workshops for children and adults, including creative activities, arts and crafts, sports, music, performing arts and other activities that bring people together.

We are also committed to raising awareness of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and helping more people understand the impact it can have on children and their families.

💜 Millie’s Story on ITV News – Sharing Her Story, Raising Awareness

Being featured on ITV News gave us an incredible opportunity to share Millie’s story with a much wider audience. For me, it was never about being on television or having our family in the spotlight — it was about Millie. It was about making sure people knew who my beautiful daughter was and giving us the opportunity to tell people about the happy, loving, bubbly little girl behind her story. Millie loved music, singing, drawing, painting, dinosaurs, bunny rabbits and adventures, and I wanted people to see her for who she truly was. 🐰💜

It also gave us an important opportunity to raise awareness of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and highlight the importance of recognising the signs of childhood cancer. For our family, everything changed within 24 hours. One moment Millie was our happy, bubbly little girl, and then our entire world was turned upside down. There was no time to prepare, no time to understand what was happening and no time to process what we were being told. Sharing Millie's story allows us to talk openly about our experience and hopefully encourage others to trust their instincts and seek medical advice when something doesn't feel right.

The feature also gave us the opportunity to introduce Team Millie and explain why we are so passionate about continuing Millie's legacy. Our fundraising isn't simply about raising money; it's about keeping Millie's name alive, telling her story and doing something positive in her memory. We wanted people to understand why supporting the Great North Children's Hospital means so much to us and why we are determined to help other children and families wherever we can.

Seeing Millie's story reach people who had never heard her name before was incredibly emotional. Every person who watched the feature, shared our story, talked about Millie or supported our fundraising became another person who knew about this very special little girl. Every conversation helps keep her memory alive, and every person who learns about childhood cancer helps us raise awareness of something that has changed our lives forever.

Losing Millie has left a heartbreak that will never disappear, but through Team Millie, we are trying to turn some of that heartbreak into hope. Hope for other children, hope for other families and hope that Millie's story can continue to make a difference. We cannot change what happened to my beautiful girl, but we can make sure she is remembered, we can keep saying her name and we can continue building a legacy that she would be proud of. 💜🐰
