Millie's legacy
Millie was kind, loving, caring and incredibly special. Her beautiful spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Although we cannot change what has happened to Millie, we can make sure that her life continues to make a difference. Every family we support, every smile we create and every memory we help make is another way of keeping Millie's light shining. The Millie Rose Foundation is our way of turning our greatest loss into something positive - a lasting legacy built on love, compassion, kindness and hope.
Millie's story: A sudden goodbye
Millie, my beautiful daughter, passed away suddenly on 22nd December 2025. Less than 24 hours earlier, she had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). Everything happened so quickly that there was no time to truly understand what was happening. In the space of a single day, our world was turned upside down forever.
Losing Millie has left an emptiness that can never be filled, but her love, courage and beautiful spirit continue to inspire everything we do. In her memory, I am determined to raise awareness of AML, helping others recognise the signs and understand just how aggressive this disease can be. I also want to raise vital funds for the incredible hospital staff who cared for Millie with such compassion, kindness and dignity during her final hours. Through Team Millie, I hope to honour her memory, support other families facing similar journeys, and make a difference in her name.
The inspiration behind Team Millie
Team Millie was created in loving memory of my beautiful daughter, Millie Rose. After losing Millie so suddenly, I wanted to find a way to turn heartbreak into hope and give something positive back to the incredible team at the Great North Children's Hospital, who cared for her with such kindness, compassion and dignity.
Every Team Millie item we create and sell helps raise vital funds for the hospital, supporting children and families during some of the most difficult times of their lives. Whether it's through fundraising events, handmade gifts or community support, every purchase and every donation helps make a difference.
My hope is that Team Millie not only keeps Millie's memory alive but also brings hope, comfort and smiles to other children and their families. By continuing to support the hospital that cared so deeply for Millie, her legacy lives on through every act of kindness, helping other children receive the care, support and love they deserve for many years to come.
Understanding the impact of AML
Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) is more than just a diagnosis—it is a life-changing journey that affects an entire family. In what can feel like the blink of an eye, everyday life is replaced by emergency hospital visits, intensive treatments, uncertainty, and emotional and physical exhaustion. Everything changes so quickly, leaving families trying to cope with a reality they never imagined.
Children with AML often spend weeks or months in hospital, missing out on school, birthdays, holidays, and the simple joys of childhood. Parents and loved ones face overwhelming fear, heartbreak and uncertainty while trying to stay strong for the child they love. Siblings are also deeply affected, as family life is turned upside down and every day becomes focused on treatment and hope.
By sharing Millie's story, I hope to raise awareness of AML, encourage earlier recognition of its signs and symptoms, and help others understand just how aggressive this disease can be. I also hope to highlight the importance of supporting children and families living through childhood cancer, while raising vital funds to improve care, research and support. Together, we can honour Millie's memory by helping to bring hope, comfort and a brighter future to other families facing the same unimaginable journey.

This song was made especially for Millie by her Grandad Bill, and somehow that makes every word feel even more precious. It isn’t just a song — it’s a piece of love, a piece of her story, and a beautiful way of keeping her memory alive.
Listening to it while watching these memories of Millie is heartbreaking, because every lyric seems to describe her so perfectly. Her little ways, her beautiful spirit, the love she gave and the special place she held in our hearts.
Grandad Bill put into music what so many of us struggle to put into words. The love, the memories, the pain of losing her, and the wish that somehow she could know just how deeply she is still loved and missed.
