🐰 Buddy’s Journey – Day 1: Dover 💜

One day down. So many miles to go…

And just like that… Day 1 of Buddy’s Journey is complete.

We made it to Dover. 🚗

Today was the beginning of a journey that has been planned for a long time, but actually setting off made it feel very real. There was excitement, nerves, tiredness and, underneath it all, that huge feeling of knowing exactly who we were doing this for.

Our journey is taking us to Benidorm and back, following a route full of new places, new memories and, hopefully, plenty of moments that we can look back on for years to come.

But this isn't just a road trip.

This is Millie’s journey too. 💜

Every mile we drive carries a little piece of her with us.

There are so many times throughout the day when I find myself thinking about what Millie would have said or done if she was here. I can imagine her excitement, her questions, her laughter and probably her wanting to know exactly how much longer until we got there! 😂

She should be here.

She should be experiencing this adventure with us, seeing the places, taking in the views and making memories of her own.

That's probably one of the hardest parts of doing something like this.

We are making memories without the little girl who should be making them with us.

And then there's Buddy. 🐰💜

Buddy has a very special place in this journey because she isn't just a bunny teddy. She traveled with Millie on so many of her adventures — to France, Benidorm, Lanzarote, Blackpool and Scotland.

Now Buddy is travelling with us again.

She's sitting there as a little reminder of Millie, coming along for every mile and every new adventure.

Today we saw so many amazing cars and met some lovely people along the way. There is something really special about being surrounded by people all setting off on their own journeys, each with their own reasons for being there.

For us, every road, every stop and every destination will have a little bit of Millie woven into it.

We know there will be emotional moments along the way.

There will probably be tears.

There will definitely be moments when we wish more than anything that Millie was sitting beside us.

But there will also be laughter, beautiful views, silly moments, unexpected adventures and memories that we will carry with us forever.

Tonight, we can finally stop, take a breath and say:

Day 1 — DONE. ✅

We made it to Dover.

Tomorrow, we cross the water and begin the next part of the adventure.

France is waiting…

And Spain is getting closer.

One day down.
So many miles to go.
One beautiful little girl in our hearts every step of the way.
